JEE MAIN 2016: Application, Exam pattern and eligibility

The JEE Main 2016 is a national level entrance examination for admission to Engineering and technical courses offered by various Government, Private and funded institutions including the NITs and IIITs.  The JEE is a two tier exam.  The first stage is JEE Main which is a gateway to B.Tech courses offered by institutes including NITs and IIITs.  The candidate qualified in JEE Main is eligible for JEE Advanced 2016 which is gateway for admission to IITs.

As per the last year details the states as Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Nagaland & Odisha had participated in JEE Exam. The students seeking the admission in these states are advised to fill the JEE Main 2016 application form through online. These states were earlier admitting on the basis of state level entrance test.

Application Form

Before the application the candidates are suggested to get the Information Bulletin from the official site of the board and read carefully. The JEE Main application form 2016 will be available online only through the official website of the JEE Apex Board in the first week of November 2015. There is no other mode for applying except the online mode. The last date of the application will be on last week of December 2015.

There are two papers in JEE (Main) – 2015  -  Paper-1 (B.E./B. Tech.) and Paper-2(B. Arch./ B. Planning). Depending upon on the course (s) candidates are seeking admission, may take Paper- 1 B.E./B. JEE MAIN 2015 EXAM SCHEDULE

Admissions to undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutions, institutes funded state governments, and other institutes shall be done by the performance in Class 12 or equivalent examination and also the performance in the Joint Entrance Examination ( JEE Main 2015).  The Paper-1 (B.E / B.Tech)  of JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced) which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring to the under graduate programmes offered by IITs.  


The States of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarkhand and Odisha have joined JEE (Main) system.  So the candidates seeking admissions to the institutions in these states, which were earlier admitted based on their State level examination are also advised to fill in the JEE (Main) - 2015 application form online.  The last date for applying was over on 18th December, 2014.   We are giving the detailed JEE (Main ) - 2015 exam schedule and the syllabus here.

Note:   The candidates choosing the cities Colombo/Kathmandu/Singapore will appear for Paper – 1 in Computer Based Examination only on 11/04/2015. In the cities Bahrain, Dubai, Muscat, Riyadh and Sharjah Paper – 1 will be conducted in both the modes, however, the candidates choosing the mode of Computer Based Examination for Paper – 1 will appear for Examination only on 11/04/2015. The Paper – 2 in all these cities will be conducted on 04/04/2015 from 2.00–5.00 PM (IST) in Pen & Paper Based examination. 









JEE MAIN 2015 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2015 defines the qualification, age limit and the number of attempts allowed to appear for JEE Main 2015 exam.  The admission to IITs and other top engineering colleges depends on the passing out year of the student.  The eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2015 is listed below.

Qualifying Examination for JEE Main 2015 and pass percentage

  • A student must have studied Maths, Physics and Chemistry as the main subjects compulsorily in the Class XII.
  • Candidate must have studied any one of the subjects as optional subjects - Biology, Computer Science or Bio-Technology
  • Minimum percentage to be secured by the candidate in Class XII board exam is 50% in total in Physics, Maths and Chemistry. 

Passing year of the Qualifying Examination

  • The JEE Main 2015 aspirants must have qualified their Class XII or other equivalent examination in the year 2013 or 2014 or students who are appearing in 2015
  • Students must have studied at least 5 subjects in their qualifying examination
  • Students who have just studied 4 subjects are not eligible for JEE  Main 2015
  • Candidates who appeared for Class XII exam in 2012 or before as well as those will appear in 2016 are not eligible for JEE Main 2015
  • Students who appeared for Class XII exam in 2012 and did not clear the test, but qualified in 2013 are not eligible for JEE Main 2015.
  • The candidates willing to appear for improvement exam of class XII in 2015 have to appear in all the 5 subjects as per the scheme of study of concerned board
  • Students should note that in the percentile system, the total marks ( of the 5 subjects) obtained / shown in the mark sheet of a particular year are required in JEE Main as well as in JEE Advanced.  The marks from two different years ( i.e. marks for 3 subjects in 2014 and marks for other 2 subjects from 2015 ) can not be considered for percentile calculation.

Please note that the eligibility for JEE Main 2015 will be defined as per the year in which the candidate who appeared for 12th Class examination.  For example, student who appeared for 12th Class exam in 2010 and did not qualify, but qualified the same in 2011, he/she may not be eligible. 
 

Number of attempts allowed for JEE Main 2015 examination

A maximum of 3 attempts are allowed for each student writing JEE Main 2015 examination. No more than 3 attempts are allowed.

Telengana State EAMCET 2015 notification on 25th February, 2015

The EAMCET 2015 Notification for the Telengana State is going to be released on 25th February, 2015.   This is the first time the new Telengana State is conducting the EAMCET examination on its own after the formation of the State in 2014.  

Around 1.8 lakhs  students from Telengana and about 70,000 students from Andhra Pradesh are expected appear for the Telengana EAMCET ( Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test )  - 2015 which is to be conducted by Government of Telengana.   The Andhra Pradesh students may have to write the examination in Hyderabad only.   There are no exam centers in Andhra Pradesh.   But Telengana EAMCET 2015 convener, N.V.Ramana Rao told reporters that they would consider positively if AP Government requests exam centers in their State for the covenience of AP students.  

The admissions will be held in the existing system with 15% unreserved seats open to AP students.  There will be no change in the pattern and scheme of the Telengana EAMCET 2015 examination.  It would remain same as last year.  

The notification for Telengana EAMCET 2015 will be issued on 25th February, 2015 and the examination will be conducted on 14th May, 2015.  The results would be declared on 28th May, 2015.  The applications have to be submitted only online and the website would be open from 28th February,m 2015.   Here are some important dates for Telengana EAMCET 2015.

  • Last date for submission with fine of Rs. 10,000 - 12th May, 2015
Hall tickets can be downloaded from 8th May, 2015 to 12th May, 2015.   The Engineering test would be conducted from 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM.  Medical test would be conducted from 02:30 PM to 05:30 PM.  The examination fee would be Rs. 250.

KVPY 2014 Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana - Notifiation

Award of KVPY Fellowships - 2014 Tenable  from 1st August, 2015.   

Applications are invited from School and College Students ( Indians ) who are interested in pursuing courses in basic sciences and careers in Research in Basic Science.

The department of Science and Technology, Government of India is offering attractive fellowships ( Rs. 5000 to Rs.7000 per month) and contingency grant equal to four months fellowships per annum to Students studying in 1st year of under graduate courses in Basic Sciences such as B.Sc. / B.S / B.Stat / B. Math / Int. M.Sc. / M.S.  The selection to the program takes into account academic excellence and demonstration of skill to take up research career in Basic Sciences.

Eligibility 

The KVPY fellowships are given only to Indian Nationals only to study in India.  Students enrolled in an under graduate course in Basic Sciences, i.e. B.Sc / B.S / B.Stat / Int. M.Sc. / M.S in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics. Statistics, Bio Chemistry, Micro Biology, Cell Biology, Ecology, Molecular Biology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Bio technology, Neurosciences, Bioinformatics, Marine Biology, Geology, HUman Biology, Genetics, Bio medical sciences, Applied Physics, or Geo physics, Material Sciences or Environmental Sciences stream.  

Stream SA : The students enrolled in XI standard ( Science subjects ) during the academic year 2014-15 and have secured a minimum of 80% ( 70% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics, and Science subjects in the X standard Board Examinations.  

The students under SA stream will be mentored for one year.  Their fellowship will be activated when they enroll in an under graduate course in Basic Sciences after XII standard securing minimum of 60% marks  ( 50% for SC/ST/PWD ) mark or equivalent grade.  During the mentoring period of one year, they will be invited for Regional Science Camp / National Science camp and expenses for attending those camps will be met by KVPY.

Stream SX :  The students enrolled in XII standard ( Science Subjects ) during the academic year 2014-15 and aspiring to join an under graduate course in Basic Sciences for the session 2015-16 are eligible provided they have secured a minimum of 80 % ( 70% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Maths and Science subjects in XII standard Board Examination before taking up the fellowship if awarded..

Stream SB : Students enrolled in the 1st year of B.Sc. / B.Stat / B.Math / Int. M.Sc. / M.S during the academic year 2014-15 and having secured a minimum of 60% ( 50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Science Subjects ( Physics / Chemistry/Biology/Maths) in the XII standard Board examination.  In the 1st year final examination of B.Sc etc.. they must secure 60% ( 50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks before taking up the fellowship if awarded.   

Selection Process for KVPY 

After scrutiny of application forms and meeting the eligibility criteria for various streams, all eligible students will be called for a written aptitude test conducted both in Hindi and English at various centers across the country on Sunday, the 2nd November, 2014.  The details of the venue of the aptitude test for the eligible students and their seat number will be published in the KVPY Website  during the first week of October, 2014.  The online version of the KVPY aptitude test 2014 will be held in the following cities :

Bangalore, Chennai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. 

Admit Cards : The students who applied online may download the admit cards for KVPY 2014  aptitude test from the KVPy website from 2nd week of October, 2014 onwards.  For the students who applied with a hard copy, admit card will be sent by speed post.

Interview : Based on the performance in the aptitude test, the short listed candidates will be asked to appear for an interview which is the final stage of the selection process.  

The students may apply by hard copy or online at the website : www.kvpy.org.in.  The application forms may be downloaded from KVPY website.   Those who are unable to do so, may request for a hard copy enclosing therewith the paid Bank Challan/pay-in-slip (available at http://www.kvpy.org.in) clearly indicating the stream (SA/SX/SB) on the envelope A processing fee of Rs 500/- may be remitted at any core banking branch of State Bank of India to the credit of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) A/c Number 10270577392 The processing fee is exempted for SC/ST/Physically and visually challenged/girl students

NTSE 2015 1st level Examination Notification released

NTSE 2015  1st level examination notification

The national talent search examination - NTSE 2015 1st level examination notification has been released.  The NTSE 1st level examination will be conducted on 2nd November, 2014 as per the notification.   

Eligibility criteria for NTSE 2015  1st Level Examination

The students who are studying in 10th class during the academic year 2014-15 are eligible to appear for the NTSE 2015 examination.  The students who are studying in Government, Private, Aided, Un aided, Kendriya Vidyalayas, ICSE, and CBSE schools are eligible to apply.

The NTSE examination written test will be conducted for 190 marks.  The examination pattern is like this..

1. Test of mental ability - 50 marks
2.  Language of comprehensive Test - 40 marks
3. Aptitude test ( Mathematics, Social sciences and Science)

Important Note: The language comprehensive test is a qualifying test only. These marks will not be included in grand total.

The purpose of the NTSE scheme is to identify talented students and nurture them.  This year ( 2014) NCERT is going to conduct the National Talent Search Examination for students studying 10th lass.

NTSE Scholarships 

1000 scholarships will be awarded on the basis of NTSE examination.  The amount of scholarship is as given below.

  • Scholarship of Rs.500 per month for Class XI and XII)
  • Scholarship of Rs.2000 per month for Under graduates and Post graduates
  • Amount of Scholarship for Ph.D. will be fixed according to UGC norms

Reservations in scholarships :

15% of scholarships are reserved for students belonging to SC category, and 7.5% scholarships are reserved for students belonging to ST category and 3% for Physically Challenged students.  

Selection process :

There is a two stage selection process for award of scholarship - Stage 1 and Stage 2.  The stage 1 selection will be done by the concerned States / UTs through a written test.  The students who qualify in Stage-1 will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination conducted by NCERT.




How to apply for NTSE 2015  1st Level Examination :

Students who are studying in 10th class can apply for NTSE 2015.  The student has to contact the concerned State Liasion Officer for getting the application form.  The application form can also be downloaded from NCERT website.   The completed application form should be signed by the Principal of the school in which the student is studying.  The candidate as well as the Principal should adhere to the last date for submission of the application. Different States may have different last dates for applying.  Please contact the concerned State Liasion Officer to know the last date.  The last date for Andhra Pradesh and Telengana states is 31st August, 2014.

As far as Andhra Pradesh and Telengana states are concerned,  the filled in application forms are to be sent at DEO's Offices.  The application forms are also available at the concerned DEO's ( District Educational Officer ) offices.  The applications are also available at www.bseap.org website for Andhra and Telengana states.  The filled in applications should reach the DEO's office on or before 1st September, 2014.

GATE 2015 NOTIFICATION released

GATE 2015 Notification out.....

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination which tests the comprehensive understanding of the candidate in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and post-graduate level subjects in Science. The GATE score of a candidate reflects a relative performance level in a particular subject in the exam across several years. The score is used for admissions to post-graduate programs (e.g., M.E., M.Tech, direct Ph.D.) in Indian institutes of higher education with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other Government agencies. 

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology ( IITs at Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur and Roorkee) are jointly administering the conduct of GATE examination.   The operations related to GATE in each of the 8 zones are managed by a zonal GATE Office at the IITs or IISc. The Organizing Institute (OI) is responsible for the end-to-end process and coordination amongst the administering Institutes. The Organizing Institute for GATE 2015 is IIT Kanpur.  

The GATE 2015 exams will be conducted on Saturdays and Sundays between 31st January, 2015 to 14th FEbruary, 2015.  The examination schedule  for different streams will be notified later on in GATE 2015 website.   

What is New in GATE 2015?

  • Validity of GATE Scores has now been increased from 2 years to 3 years.
  • All the applications have to be made online only and no hard copy is required.  So you need to submit the application online at GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) website. 
  • The GATE 2015 exam fees payment are to be made through SBI I-Collect, Axis Bank I-Connect, e-challan facilities or debit cards / credit cards / net banking.

GATE 2015 Eligibility

The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear in GATE :
  • Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Pharmacy (Post - Diploma / Post-B.Sc / 4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final year of such programs.
  • Candidates in the final year of the Four-year Bachelor's degree program in science (B.S.) (Post-Diploma/4 years after 10+2).
  • Master's degree holders in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programs.
  • Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four year Integrated Master's degree program or (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering / Technology.
  • Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five year Integrated Master's degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering / Technology.
  • Candidates who are in the final year of the Five-year integrated M.Sc. or Five year integrated B.S. - M.S. Program.
  • Candidates with qualification obtained through examination conducted by professional AMIE by IE (I), AMICE (I) by ICE (I) as equivalent to B.E/B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

Results of Combined Medical Services Examinations - 2014

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the results of the written test for the Combined Medical Services Examination (CMS) - 2014 which was held in June, 2014.  The candidates who are qualified have to appear for the Interview / Personality Test.  The Interview is likely scheduled to commence from 28th August, 2014

The candidates have to fill up the Detailed Application Form (DAF) which will be available from 25th July, 2014 till 8th August, 2014 on the official website of UPSC - http://www.upsc.gov.in.    
The filled up DAF form along with all other documents must reach the Under Secretary, CMS, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shajahan Road, New Delhi - 110069 latest by 11th August, 2014.

The candidates have to carry their original documents at the time of the Personality Test / Interview.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) - National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination - 2014 - DECLARATION OF WRITTEN TEST RESULTS

UPSC has conducted the written test for National Defence Academy and Naval Academy on 20th April, 2014.  The results of these examinations are declared by UPSC.  The candidates who have qualified for interview by the Service Selection Board (SSB) of the Ministry of Defence for admissions into Army, Navy and Air Force wings of National Defence Academy for the 133rd course and for the 95th Indian Naval Academy course commencing from 2nd January, 2015.

SRMEEE 2014: Results announced

SRM University has more than 38,000 students and more than 2,600 faculty across all the campus and offers wide range of undergraduate, post graduate and doctorate programmes in Engineering, Management, Medicine and health sciences and Humanities.

The results of Engineering Entrance Exam of SRM University ( SRM EEE 2014 ) have been announced by the university and can be checked on their official website. The exam was conducted for admissions to various Engineering courses.

The online test was conducted from April 17 and April 22 in two sessions per day. Whereas, the paper based exam was held on April 27.The results are available online and can be seen on the official website. 

The candidates can get the results by entering their application number or hall ticket registration number. The official website is given below.

JEE (Advanced) 2014: Registrations start from today

The registrations for JEE (Advanced) 2014 will commence from today.  The results of JEE Mains 2014 were declared on 2nd May, 2014.   The candidates who have qualified in the JEE (Mains) 2014 can register for the JEE Advanced 2014 exam.

The examination was held in two modes, i.e. paper-based and online examinations. The paper-based exam was conducted on April 6 and was attempted by over 11 lakh candidates. The online exams were held between April 9 and April 19.

The candidates who are declared eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2014, as per their performance in JEE (Main) 2014, will have to again register for the JEE (Advanced) exam on May 4 through the official website: http://jeeadv.iitkgp.ac.in

The candidates are given only 5 days to apply for JEE (Advanced ) 2014 examination. All the registrations for JEE Advanced Exam 2014 will end on 9th May, 2014.  The examination is scheduled to be held on 25th May, 2014.  The final result would be declared on 19th June, 2014.


After the announcement of results, online selection of courses will begin, followed by the allocation of seats.  At the time of registration, the candidates are required to submit the scanned copies of date of birth, class 10 certificate, your signature in JPEG format, passport size photograph in JPEG format, choice of language for question paper, choice of examination city/ town, category/ sub-category certificate if applicable, year of first attempt in JEE (Advanced) if applicable.

The All India Ranks will be declared on July 7, most probably. A total of 13.56 lakh students, including 3.16 lakh girls, registered for the exam this year. Of which, 11.84 lakh took the paper and pen exam at 2,173 centres and nearly 1.72 lakh students appeared for the online version.

JEE MAINS - 2014 RESULTS DECLARED BY CBSE

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced JEE Main 2014 Result late night on May 2, 2014 on their official website.  The candidates who appeared for JEE Mains 2014 can check their results by logging on to the results page by using their exam roll number and date of birth.  The official website for JEE Mains 2014 Results is : http://cbseresults.nic.in/jee/jee_cbse_2014.htm

The exam was conducted in two modes i.e. paper based mode and online mode.  The paper based exam was held on 6th April, 2014.   Over 11 lakhs candidates have appeared for the exams.   The online exams were held between April 9 and April 19.   A total of 13.57 lakh aspirants had registered for JEE (Mains) 2014. The JEE (Mains) scores will be used for admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture courses at the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), other centrally funded technical institutions and institutions under participating state governments.

Only candidates securing the top 1.5 lakh ranks would be eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced 2014 exam for admission to the IITs and ISM Dhanbad.
 
The candidates who have qualified the exam are eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2014 and will have to again register for the JEE (Advanced) exam on May 4 through the official website: http://jeeadv.iitkgp.ac.in

The candidates will be provided with only 5 days to apply for JEE (Advanced) as the registrations will end on May 9. The exam is scheduled to be held on May 25. The final result will be declared on June 19.

UGC NET Examination 2014 Notification

UGC NET Examination June 2014 Notification - Apply Online for UGC NET Exam 2014

University Grants Commission has released the notification for the National Eligibility Test 2014 ( NET 2014 ) which is going to be conducted on 29th June, 2014.  The main purpose of conducting the UGC NET exam 2014 is the eligibility for JRF ( Junior Research Fellow ) and Lectureship ( Assistant Professor ).

Age Limit and Relaxation

For Junior Research Fellowship : The candidate should not be more than 28 years as on 1.6.2014.  There is relaxation of age upto 5 years for candidates belonging to OBC, SC/ST/PWD categories and to women applicants.  Relaxation in age limit is also provided for candidates having research experience limited to the period spent on research in the relevant subject of post graduation degree on production of certificate from the concerned authority.

For Assistant Professor : There is no age limit for applying for eligibility for Assistant Professor.

Eligibility 

 Candidates who secured 55% or more in their Master's degree recognized by UGC are eligible to apply.  There is a relaxation of 5% for candidates belonging to certain categories.  More details on eligibility are provided in the Official Website of UGC.

Andhra Pradesh CEEP / POLYCET 2014 Notification

The Andhra Pradesh State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET) conducts Entrance Examinationfor Admission into the Diploma courses every year.  The examination is known as CEEP.  But it is renamed as POLYCET from the year 2013-14 onwards.   

The AP State Board of Technical Education And Training has announced the admission notification for AP POLYCET-2014.  The AP POLYCET 2014 is a state level entrance examination for admissions to various diploma courses in Government, Government aided and private aided colleges in Andhra Pradesh.  

The applications for the examination ( AP POLYCEET 2014) have to be submitted online in the SBTET official website www.sbtetap.gov.in.  The online submission of application starts from 6th April, 2014 onwards to 28th April, 2014.  Let us see the full details of AP POLYCET 2014 below.

Eligibility criteria for AP CEEP / POLYCET 2014

The candidates who have passed SSC / 10th class or its equivalent from the State Board of Secondary Education, AP are eligible to apply.  The candidates who are appearing for their examination and awaiting for the results are also eligible to apply..

How to apply for AP CEEP / POLYCET 2014

The Candidates who are interested to apply for AP CEEP / POLYCET 2014 can apply either online or offline mode.  The online application forms will be available in the official website
www.sbtetap.gov.in from 6th April, 2014 onwards and till 28th April, 2014. 

If you want to apply offline mode,  then the applications will be available at the nearest E-Seva center or AP online center.   

The AP POLYCET examination will be held on 21st May, 2014 and the results will be declared on 6th June, 2014. The candidates have to pay the application form fees of Rs.350/- through AP ONLINE centers / Mee Seva / E Seva centers only.  This is for the offline mode of application.  

If you are applying online for the entrance exam,  then you have to directly apply through the official website mentioned above and make the fee payment through credit card / debit card and take a print out of it.
