GATE 2014 Eligibility Criteria

A candidate who wants to apply for GATE 2014 should know the full details of the Eligibility Criteria for GATE 2014.  The eligibility criteria for GATE 2014 gives full details about the qualification in terms of academics, age, pass percentage and the marks in the qualifying examination.  Only those candidates who meet the specified eligibility criteria for GATE 2014 will be allowed to apply for GATE 2014 and write the examination.

What is new in GATE 2014


There are some changes in GATE 2014 compared to GATE 2013.  Here are the details of what is new in GATE 2014.

  1. A new paper "Ecology and Evolution" is introduced in GATE 2014.
      
  2.  The examination for all the 22 papers will be held online computer based test.  Some questions will need numerical answers to be keyed in by the candidate using the virtual keyboard.  Rest of the questions will be of multiple choice type.
  3. GATE 2014 will be held in multiple sessions. There will be 12 testing windows spread over one month period between 1st February to 2nd March, 2014.
  4. Papers with more number of applicants will have more number of sessions.  This means that there will be two separate papers of similar difficulty levels in these streams
  5. The application fee has been increased to 1500 for general and OBC category students while it is 750 for female and SC/ST students.   Last year, the application fee was waived off for female applicants.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology that are listed below on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

The Announcement for GATE - 2014 Examination has been made by IIT, Kharagpur.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR GATE 2014 

  • GATE 2014 Online application processing system starts on : Monday 2nd Sept., 2013
  • Last date for enrollment ( after this only enrolled candidates can fill the application):  Tuesday, 1st October, 2013.
  • Last date for submission of online application through website : Thursday, 3rd October, 2013
  • Last Date for the receipt of Print-out of the ONLINE Application along with all the supporting documents at the respective Zonal GATE Offices : Thursday, 10th October, 2013
  • Last date for request for change in choice of city : Wednesday, 20th November, 2013
  • Availability of Admit Card on the GOAPS website for printing : Wednesday, 1st January, 2014
  • GATE 2014 Online Examination : Saturdays and Sundays between 1st February and 2nd March, 2014.
    • Forenoon session : 9:00 hrs to 12:00 Noon

 Examinations for all the 22 papers will be conducted by an ONLINE MODE only Computer Based Test (CBT).

HSC Examinations- 2014 to start from 20th February 2014

The HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) 2014 examination in Maharashtra will begin from 20th February, 2014.  The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has declared the examination time table last week.  The Board has been announcing the time table at the beginning of the academic year for the last two years.  This is to facilitate the students to have more time to prepare.

 The students were complaining that they did not have enough time for preparing for difficult subjects like Science and Maths.  So the Board has increased the preparation time for such papers this time.  The HSC Physics paper is scheduled on 25th February, 2014 while Mathematics paper is scheduled for 1st March, 2014 and Chemistry is scheduled for 6th march, 2014 and Biology paper is on 10th March, 2014.

IBPS Clerks 2013 Common Written Examination

Institute of Banking and Personal Selection (IBPS) has recently announced the next common written examination (CWE) for Clerical Posts (Clerks-III) in 19 participating banks.  The second CWE was conducted and completed recently in April, 2013.  This is the third common written examination by IBPS for Clerks posts.


IBPS will be conducting an online examination probably in December, 2013 for all the candidates.  The candidates who qualify in the CWE will have to appear for personal interview in February, 2014.   The candidates will be allotted to the participating banks on basis of Merit rank in the month of April, 2014.


Details of posts and participating banks

 The Common Written Exmination will be held for recruitment of state wise clerks vacancies in various states in the 19 participating banks.  The score in this examination is very useful because many of the private banks may also call candidates based on the score for interviews as per their requirement.  Here is the list of banks in which vacancies are available.

Online Examination Pattern

The online exam will have 200 objective questions for a total of 200 marks and 2 hours of total time.  The exam pattern is as follow.
  • Test of Reasoning - 40 marks
  • English Language : 40 marks
  • Numerical Ability   : 40 marks
  • General Awareness related to Banking Industry : 40 marks
  • Computer Knowledge : 40 marks
There is negative marking for wrong answers.  The negative mark will be 1/4 th of the total marks for the question.  There will be no descriptive paper.

 The fees for the examination is Rs. 100 for SC/ST/PWD/EXS candidates and is Rs.600 for others.  Payment can be made either online or offline mode.  You can select online or offline mode of payment while filling online application.

Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupathi has conducted SVU RESET 2013 entrance exam for admissions to Ph.D and M.Phil on 7th July, 2013.  The results of SVU RESET 2013 were announced yesterday by the University.
